Our agency was founded 27 years ago in Springfield to address the problem of homelessness and help those with the threat of homelessness to build lives of stability, security, and hope. We do this through four programs:
1. Threshold & Support Services-Daily shelter and day services to 40-60 individuals needing assistance with case management, water, mail, advocacy, legal support, resource referral, and evening meal.
2. Stable S.M.I.L.E. Program- A life stabilizing budgeting and money management currently serving 95 individuals who are sanctioned to have a payee by the Social Security Administration. Housing in our community is guaranteed.
3. Springfield Hearth House – 24 individuals are supported by our case managers to maintain permanent income adjusted housing throughout Springfield and Sangamon County. To qualify, individuals must have an accompanying disability and an ongoing pattern of homelessness of a year or more or 4 times in the last 3 years.
Without the continued support of our loyal donors, we would be unable to accomplish our mission of “sheltering the homeless, providing support, promoting independence and working with others in the prevention of homelessness in our community.”
